Mrs. Ford passed the chairmanship of the Betty Ford Center to her daughter Susan Ford Bales in January, 2005.

As part of the special occasion Betty Ford’s “bloomers” have been put on temporary display.  Given to Mrs. Ford by friends on the White House staff when she requested a flag for her automobile, the flag makes reference to her support of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) and her maiden name, Bloomer.
