Agendas, briefing papers, and minutes for most of the thirty-nine National Security Council meetings held during the Ford Administration. Agendas for the meetings were prepared by the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. Meeting minutes were prepared by the NSC staff person who had staff responsibility for the major issue under discussion. Topics include arms control, US military readiness, the Middle East, Angola, Vietnam, the Mayaguez, the Panama Canal, and investigations of the intelligence community.

The collection documents White House contacts with senators and their staffs regarding pending legislation, personnel appointments and routine requests and courtesies. A few foreign and many domestic policy issues are represented, for example energy bills and the Freedom of Information Act. The majority of files spans 1974-75, with some earlier material such as summary records of senatorial support on key votes, 1969-75.

The Administrative Office Files document management and budgetary issues involved in the operation of the President Ford Committee (PFC). To a lesser degree, the extant files reflect the deputy chairman of administration's auxiliary responsibility to coordinate the Committee's support operations. In terms of reporting relationships, the deputy chairman had oversight responsibility for the PFC's research, scheduling, communications, volunteer, and convention planning operations. The Chairman's Office Files provide documentation of administrative, fiscal and strategic issues handled by Howard (Bo) Callaway and his immediate staff from the formation of the election committee in June 1975 until Callaway resigned in March 1976. These extant files do not reflect the activities of Roger C.B. Morton, chairman from April to August 1976, and James Baker, chairman during the general election campaign.
