Material concerning Belin’s work on the staffs of the Warren Commission investigating the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and the Rockefeller Commission, investigating alleged intelligence community abuses of U.S. law. The collection also includes much on his unofficial role as a leading defender of the Warren Commission report against such critics as Mark Lane, G. Robert Blakey, and Oliver Stone.

It also includes Dr. Burns' 1969-70 files from the Nixon White House on domestic and economic issues and 1981-85 files from his service as the U.S. Ambassador to West Germany.

The Connor files document his responsibilities as Staff Secretary and Cabinet Secretary, especially White House administrative matters; the flow of presidential paperwork; and the planning, preparation and follow-up of Cabinet meetings. Connor's office oversaw the flow of paperwork to and from the president, and communicated presidential decisions and comments to the Cabinet and White House staff. His special expertise in energy policy and his work on intelligence community reforms is also well documented.

Marrs handled White House liaison with interest groups not specifically assigned to other staff members of the Public Liaison Office. These associations were interested in veterans affairs, military matters, Indian affairs, medicine and health, education, religion, ethnic affairs, old age, and business. Among the issues he handled were Vietnam War amnesty, military personnel missing in action in Southeast Asia, and Indochina refugees. The Marrs Files include much substantive material and are a significant research resource.

Marsh was a senior advisor who oversaw the White House Congressional Relations and Public Liaison Offices. He had additional responsibilities relating to the 1975 investigations of the intelligence community, the Bicentennial celebration, various matters relating to former President Richard Nixon, and the 1977 transition. His files also span a wide variety of domestic and foreign policy matters, but only occasional items concern political affairs.
