This series contains follow-up letters from the general public sent to First Lady Betty Ford after receiving her response to their public opinion mail regarding her "60 Minutes" interview on August 10, 1975. Most of the correspondents appear to have been initially critical of Mrs. Ford’s interview and her views on such topics as pre-marital sex and marijuana use. The nature of the letters range from positive messages that express appreciation for the response and clarification of her position to negative comments regarding morality, religion and parenting. They provide additional comments on the topic of pre-marital sex and how this interview will affect their votes in the 1975 presidential election. Some follow-up letters are written directly on Mrs. Ford’s acknowledgment letter.
