This series consists primarily of photographs removed from two scrapbooks that belonged to United States Postmaster General Benjamin F. Bailar. Most of the photographs are captioned and some of them are inscribed by those who gave photographs to Bailar. They depict significant events in Postmaster General Bailar’s public life, such as scenes from First Day of Issue ceremonies for postage stamps at various sites around the country. A video cassette contains footage of the ceremonies held at the Dupont Center Gymnasium at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on the occasion of the first day of issue of the Telephone Centennial Stamp.
