Composer Cole Porter hailed from the humble town of Peru, Indiana. He learned the piano and violin at age six and composed his first song, dedicated to his mother, at age 10. His career was legendary for numerous songs like “Don’t Fence Me In,” but his work on musical comedies for the stage were the highlights of his career.
