This is the only Gerald Ford letter dating from World War II among the holdings of the Gerald R. Ford Library. When he wrote this letter, Lieutenant Ford was stationed at the Athletic Department of the Navy Pre-Flight School, St. Mary's College, California. He had just received news of his transfer to the Naval Reserve Training Command, Naval Air Station, Glenview, Illinois. Lieutenant Commander John Cadwalader, one of Lt. Ford's former shipmates, was still serving on the U.S.S. Monterey.
