Third Basemen

M Schmidt

When baseball people talk about “power at the corners” they are referring to first and third where it is hoped that both positions are played by good, power hitters.  However, not many great home run hitters occupied third base.  In fact, there are fewer third basemen in the Hall of Fame than at any other position.

Known as “the hot corner,” third base is one of the most dangerous positions on the field as laser shots off right hand batters allow but a millisecond for reaction.
