Research
Note to Researchers The Ford Library
staff has divided the container list for the Laird Papers into two
parts. The first covers The second part of the
container list covers In addition, A few boxes
(D90-D100) are closed under specific restrictions in Secretary Laird’s deed
of gift. Folders in many
other boxes, however, can be added to the Library’s review queue. Researcher access to all of these boxes
requires advance consultation with the Library staff. The
purpose of this consultation is to identify specific folders of interest to
you and place them, as needed, in work queues for privacy, declassification,
and related reviews. The amount
of time required to complete this review will depend on such factors as the
number of requests in the queue, the amount of material requested, and the
availability of staff to do the review.
Therefore you should submit such requests well in advance of any
planned research trips to the Library.
To request that specific
folders be added to the review queue, contact an archivist or e-mail ford.library@nara.gov) As the review of individual folders is completed, the Library staff will remove the lines striking out the folder titles. |
(Folders with titles struck through are closed pending
declassification, but researchers can file Mandatory Review requests to try to
get individual documents declassified sooner.)
